Making an Impact with Your Super Power

I've been thinking a lot about what my impact in this world is. What am I doing today to make tomorrow better. What steps am I taking to make this world a better place? I don't just want to be one of those people that see the starving children, or the abused women, or the hurting underdogs and say, "Oh, isn't that sad!" Then quickly change the channel.

I want to make a lasting impact on this crazy world. And I know I am just one little me, but I know that God has something incredible designed for me. I just don't know what it is yet.

Oh, and before I go any further, I know being a mom and wife is important. And I love it. But I am talking about something bigger than all that.

I was talking about my good friend Todd the other day. If you knew him you remember his super power.

Yeah, I said super power.

No he couldn't leap tall buildings or stop a bullet with his eyes, but he could encourage you like no one's business.

I mean this guy had the most amazing gift for encouraging people. And not fakey-make-stuff-up-to-make-you-feel-good, type of encouraging, but honest, sincere, thoughtful, encouraging.

He was really incredible at it.

If you were ever encouraged by him, you didn't forget it.

I miss that.

I could use some of his encouragement today.

I am getting off my point. My point is that Todd did a lot of stuff in his life. A lot. But what comes first to my mind every time I think about him, is his encouragement. He was given this huge gift and used it to the fullest.

What is that gift that you have you been given that you are using, or should be?

I am struggling with this right now. My heart is being pulled in the direction of those who need help. I feel like God wants me to act. He wants me to do something, possibly something that seems extreme to some. I don't know what it is, and I don't know what my gift is. Not in regards to this.

All I know is that I can't be a silent observer. I can't just sit her and witness injustice. But I don't know what I am supposed to do.

Any ways that is what is on my mind right now. Don't know if it all makes sense, and it doesn't have to, because it's my blog!!! :)

The greatest thing that you can do you are presently engaged in. That is raising a family and supporting your husband in his work. IF everyone would follow your example, this Country and World would be greatly improved. You are teaching honesty, integrity, sensitivity, moral conviction, and love. What more could you do? Paint a picture? create music? Write a poem? All of these things are transitory. Keep up your good works!!!

Thanks for sharing whats in your heart. I will so be praying for you as you search inside and listen as God reveals to you that special thing.

Funny we have been talking about this very thing with a few other close friends lately.
I have been thinking so much lately about my girls and the young women they are turning into. Sarah asked me not too long ago "Mom, I know there is something God created me for that no one else could do like me, I just don't know what it is. We are praying that even at this young age God would begin to reveal the purpose in her heart. Meanwhile I tell her She was created for relationship!!!

On another note I loved what you shared about Todd.It actually reminded me of the "mark" you left here in NC. I need to tell you Kristen that I think you are unaware of the rich impact that you have on young mother's. You have been gone from here for years and many of us still quote some of the things you modeled in parenting and the principles you laid out with your own family. I know you had a large impact on both Mandy and I as a parent... I am sure many of your current friends would say the same...

I hear your heart searching and know that it won't be long until God speaks lod and clearto you!! I'll be praying and waiting to see how God works through you!!!

Upon further reflection, I have come to the conclusion that you should give serious thought to becoming a writer of children's books. You could employ your experiences with your own children, your religious convictions, and natural teaching ability. I envision that the books would employ both visual and graphic images interspersed with entertaining dialogue. Think about providing these documents at low cost so that their impact would be seen by those who probably need them the most.

You are a persevering woman. You are a champion for women and children and families. You have great compassion. Compassion can provide restlessness which causes movement. Jesus was moved with compassion. Sounds like you have just the right gifts for battling injustices and reaching out to the needy.

I will join others in praying for clarity. Can't wait to see/hear how God utilizes your super powers!

I am happy to have seen Todd's superpower! He really was an encourager!

I'm so impressed at your fantastic mothering skills. If all moms and dads were raising their kids as well as you and Mike - our world would be an AMAZING, loving and all around fantastic place! (Sounds like heaven, huh?!) So, that's definitely ONE superpower you have!

I also appreciate how you invest in the lives of young girls. You really show love and concern for them and care about seeing them grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ! I'm thankful for your influence and superpower being used in Orchard Kids!
